Hotel di Lombok - Nokia Siemens Networks said Tuesday it has received an order to modernize and upgrade operator Qatar Telecom's (QTEL.DO) third-generation networks.
Under the contract, Nokia Siemens is supplying base stations and backhaul technology to increase Qatar Telecom's third-generation network capacity and enable a smooth transition to the faster technologies HSPA+ and Long Term Evolution, the company said.
Nokia Siemens is also providing a management system to optimize Qatar Telecom's network, and continues to operate it under an existing managed services contract, it added.
No order value was disclosed.
Nokia Siemens Networks is a joint venture between Finland's Nokia Corp. (NOK) and Germany's Siemens AG (SI).
At 0815 GMT, Nokia's shares in Helsinki were up 1.3% at EUR11.35, against a 1.4% rise in the broader market.
Nokia Siemens is also providing a management system to optimize Qatar Telecom's network, and continues to operate it under an existing managed services contract, it added.
